LIQUEURS AND SPIRITS AT THE CHARTERHOUSE OF FLORENCE

LIQUEURS AND SPIRITS AT THE CHARTERHOUSE OF FLORENCE

An old Cistercian monastery, secret recipes of 1300, medicinal herbs and silence; these are the ingredients of the liqueurs made in this evocative place on the Tuscan hills just outside Florence.

The monastery was build in the Middle Age to host a group of Carthusian monks and later the Cistercians, who started the production of liqueurs just for the monks of the convent.

Today the shop of the monastery offers a special selection of home made spirits, prepared in the antique distillery with grape of the Chianti area and local herbs.

Brandy, Grappa, bitter spirits and the famous Liquore Certosa and Elisir di San Bernardo; all of them are made with the same ancient secret recipe.
